Action par laquelle on envoie. Il se dit particulièrement en parlant Des marchandises. Faire un envoi de marchandises par terre, par eau. Cette marchandise est de bon débit, on en a déjà fait deux envois. Par l'envoi de tel jour, on dit avoir reçu... Lettre d'envoi.   Il signifie quelquefois, La chose même qui est envoyée. J'ai reçu votre envoi de tel jour.

ENVOIse dit, en Littérature, de Quelques vers mis à la suite d'une pièce de poésie, pour l'adresser, pour en faire hommage à quelqu'un. Il y a à la fin de ce conte un envoi fort joli.
